Hidden hinges: the added value in a secure front door

We think that we should invent a neologism that replaces the expressions “secure front door” and “security door”.  This is because at one time these words identified a purely technical component, a security device aimed at compartmentalising space.

Today, however, a “door” also represents “psychological protection”, domestic hospitality, and a piece of furniture.

Even more, Alias security doors or secure front doors, which in addition to being a security device, mark the emotional boundary between the interior and the exterior.

When we select a front door, we are therefore very attentive to aesthetic details, so we need to linger on a specific detail of a door that is not always paid attention to.

We are referring to hinges: technical-constructive components that can have a pronounced aesthetic impact.  These elements are essential for the door to swing, they support its weight and are essential for its opening and closure.

HIDDEN HINGES: AESTHETIC EVOLUTION

There are both hidden and visible hinges. The former are, in fact, invisible, hidden; they therefore have the advantage of not affecting the design of the interior of the door.

Alias offers 4 different particular types of structure with hidden hinges:

  • Platinum (1) and Titanium (2) – class 4 certified
  • Silver (3), Gold (4) and Double (5) – class 3 certified

On the other hand, the following have visible hinges: Steel (6), Steel Plus (7), Vega Plus (8), Steel FB6 (9), Duo (10).

*All ALIAS structures with visible hinges are fitted with elegant hinge covers as standard
